Here are my 5 favourite travel stories from this week, in an easy-to-read Travelist-style burst. Enjoy.
1 – WOMEN WEARS 9KG OF CLOTHING TO AVOID EXCESS BAGGAGE FEE

Comfortably my favourite story of the week was that of a 30-year-old Brit who, when faced with a $85 USD excess baggage charge, opted to wear 4Kg of clothing instead. She might have looked ridiculous in her seven dresses, two pairs of shoes (how that is possible I’m not entirely sure), two pairs of shorts, a skirt and a cardigan, but whatever, she saved 75 bucks, so fair play to her.
2 – CAMPING TAKES OFF IN TURKEY

It probably isn’t the first place you’d think of when planning a camping holiday, but in Turkey, sales of camping gear has increased by 120% since last year alone and campsites are increasing in numbers and quality, so if you’re looking for a cheap holiday around the Med and love camping (as I do), it’s maybe worth considering.
3 – EUROPE’S LARGEST ARTIFICIAL SKI SLOPE OPENS IN SERBIA

The end of the ski season in Europe (and Japan) is fast approaching but in Serbia, you’ll be able to ski until as late as July thanks to a new artificial slope in Kopaonik, reports The Telegraph. The 800m slope drops 116m and has a 4-seater lift running straight from the centre of the resort. The slope is made out of Neveplast, who claim that their slopes mean “novices can learn to ski and snowboard, enthusiasts can practice their preferred discipline, and where the competitive athlete can train exactly like they do on snow”. Pretty cool on paper at least.
4 – WORLD’S TALLEST INDOOR WATERFALL OPENS… IN AN AIRPORT

After winning Skytrax’s “World’s Best Airport” gong for the seventh year in a row, Singapore’s Changi airport is making news again as it opens a new 135,000 square metre complex featuring none less than the World’s Tallest Indoor Waterfall. Standing at 40m, the “HSBC Rain Vortex” (aka a massive tap), “greets visitors upon arrival” and is surrounded by “the manicured grounds of the Shiseido Forest Valley”. Oh yeah, and you can check in and fly places too.
5 – NETFLIX STREET FOOD ASIA TRAILER DROPS
OK so this was actually last week, but in case you missed it, check out this amazing-looking trailer for a show produced by the team that did Chef’s Table (possibly the best food show every produced and the benchmark for every F&B client who wants a video made – thanks for that NF), the show focusses on uniques street food vendors across Asia. It looks stunning, and I can’t wait.

This was a great read. I completely forgot about the show, needed this reminder.
